Sabrina Torres is a passionate agricultural advocate and sustainability strategist whose work bridges policy, community resilience, and ecological stewardship. She currently serves as the Sustainable Agriculture Planner for Boulder County, where she leads the development and implementation of policies and programs that support local farmers and promote regenerative, climate-resilient agricultural practices across unincorporated areas of the county.
Sabrina’s journey into agricultural advocacy began in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, which devastated her home island of Puerto Rico. The storm laid bare the island’s historical food system vulnerabilities while also igniting a grassroots movement toward food sovereignty and community-powered agriculture. This pivotal experience continues to fuel her commitment to supporting resilient food systems shaped by justice, equity, and ecological balance.
Before joining Boulder County, Sabrina worked as a Sustainability Consultant for Aguas de Bogotá, advising the Latin American public-utility waste management company on sustainability metrics and community engagement strategies. She also served as a consultant for Mighty Earth, where she conducted investigative research into environmental degradation and human rights abuses within the rubber production supply chains of Southeast Asia, deepening her understanding of global environmental justice issues.
Sabrina brings a collaborative, values-driven approach to all her work, with a strong belief in the power of community and nature-based solutions in agriculture. She holds a Master’s degree in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies from Pace University–New York.
Beyond her professional life, Sabrina lives on a small-scale regenerative farm, where she cares for a flock of friendly laying hens and finds joy in reading bird books beneath the shade of her favorite old elm tree. She is especially passionate about creating inclusive spaces for dialogue and transformation, rooted in the power of open minds and open hearts.
