RMFU Supports the $12 Billion in USDA Relief, but Presses for True Safety Net for Family Farmers and Ranchers

Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU) welcomes the announcement of $12 billion in Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) funding and appreciates the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) effort to deliver much-needed relief to farmers facing sustained hardship. We encourage the USDA to implement a tiered payment system that ensures family farms and ranchers who have been severely impacted receive fair and proportionate support. While this assistance provides important short-term relief, farmers need a true and lasting safety net that is built on fair markets and structural reform rather than recurring emergency payments. We look forward to working with the USDA and Congress on long-term solutions that ensure that family farmers, ranchers, and their communities thrive.
