Allyson is an AmeriCorps service member based in Gunnison, Colorado. She believes that every person has the right to access healthy food, and that this is best achieved through supporting local food systems. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2022 with a B.A. in International Studies and Journalism, where she became passionate about social justice issues. Upon graduation, she WWOOF’ed on several different farms and found her love for agriculture. Her current host organization, The Mountain Roots Food Project, produces and distributes organic foods for families and individuals experiencing food insecurity. She supports the organization through maintaining several growing spaces, grant writing, community building and food rescue. She will start a graduate program in Fall of 2024, to obtain a Masters of Public Policy from CU Denver. She hopes to blend her passion for sustainable agriculture and food justice with creating policy to make a more equitable world for all people who eat.
