Berlin Arellano

Berlin Arellano, a native of El Paso, Texas, grew up surrounded by the vibrancy of her hometown, where she nurtured a profound passion for caregiving and an enduring interest in healthcare. In 2019, her journey took her to Tucumcari, New Mexico, where she embarked on a transformative experience through the Beginning Farmers Program. This pivotal chapter ignited her commitment to cultivating food, enhancing soil health, and uplifting rural communities—guided by the ethos that “Food is Medicine.”

Berlin has made significant contributions as a former board member of the Los de Mora Co-op, where she played a key role in the establishment of a producer-owned grocery store in Mora, NM. Currently, she serves on the Tri-County Farmers Market board, coordinating the year-round operations of this vital community resource.

With the mentorship of seasoned experts, Berlin actively practices regenerative and holistic land management, fostering deep connections within her community. Since joining the Ogallala Commons team in early 2023, she has devoted herself to advancing community food security by integrating youth engagement and natural resource stewardship into her initiatives. Berlin holds a special passion for supporting seniors in rural communities, striving to provide fresh, local produce to those who once cared for others.

As a proud RMFU member, Berlin attended the College Conference of Cooperatives in 2023 and aspires to elevate her efforts even further as an RMFU Fellow.
