According to Dictionary.com, a farmer is “a person who farms; person who operates a farm or cultivates land.” True agriculturalists know this is an overly simplistic definition. Farmers are mechanics, chemists, meteorologists, accountants, brokers, troubleshooters, managers and more, all in one. If farming were as simple as sowings seeds and collecting a check perhaps a simplistic definition would but warranted. But it is not. So many skills are needed, and at Farmers Union, we work to provide opportunities to broaden your knowledge. Education is the base of our Farmers Union triangle after all.
This year, at annual convention join us in expanding your base of farming knowledge and skills! On November 19th we will be offering trainings and certifications for RMFU members as part of our revamped Convention Kickoff. Held at Island Grove Regional Park, just five minutes from our convention hotel, we will be offering an afternoon of education and certifications. Topics include Beef Quality Assurance certification, basic tractor maintenance, livestock first aid, and GAP/GHP certification preparation. This educational afternoon is open to the public, and FREE for all RMFU members!
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more, go to the Convention registration page to sign up – and consider sticking around for convention Friday and Saturday to learn even more about RMFU!
