Media Releases, Legislative News, Agricultural Updates
The RMFU Government Relations team is excited for state legislative sessions to kick off soon in Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. We are also working closely with NFU to track what is happening in DC as a new session for the federal Congress began on January 3rd. Here are some important upcoming dates:
We will continue advocating for community agriculture throughout our three states and at the federal level. In DC, Congress voted in December to extend the 2018 Farm Bill by one year; we expect the new Congress to finally pass a full Farm Bill sometime this year. Colorado has a very tight budget year, but we will work hard to defend our community from potential cuts to various beneficial programs. In New Mexico, among other efforts, we support Right to Repair legislation that we hope to see passed. In Wyoming, with this year being a full session, we are working to build relationships with the many new legislators and help educate them on our priorities. We are excited to welcome Era Aranow to join Scott Zimmerman with our Government Relations team in Wyoming, and we look forward to continuing to work with Gillian Joyce and Pam Roy in New Mexico.
If you have any questions about policy, legislation, or upcoming events, please don’t hesitate to contact the Government Relations team, Director Tyler Garrett, and Associate Director J Burow.
