With experience in both engineering and farming, as well as some coaching, mentoring, and international volunteer work, Montana stumbled into ranching a few years ago through Alderspring Ranch’s range riding internship. In the past couple years, he’s completed Quivira Coalition’s New Agrarian Program, cultivated new set of skills, and worked on regenerative seedstock and direct-to-consumer beef ranches. He currently is working at Sol Ranch in NE New Mexico, taking on responsibilities in beef and infrastructure oversight, and growing his skills in ranch management as a whole.
A lover of food, storytelling, music, and good neighbors near and far, Montana is passionate about the health of land and people. He believes agriculture to be a natural hub for reducing food and water insecurities, fostering community, restoring ecosystems, providing nutritious products, and developing future generations.
