Renewable energy grant workshops scheduled

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s 9006 Grant Program for renewable energy offers both grants and guaranteed loans for eligible renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. The Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (the farm bill) established the Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency Improvements Program under Title IX, Section 9006. This program currently funds grants and loan guarantees to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for assistance with purchasing renewable energy systems and making energy efficiency improvements.

RMFU’s Cooperative Development Center will host 9006 grant workshop for small wind development and other projects in February and March of 2007 to provide producers and rural businesses with information on what is available and how to make their applications as competitive as possible.

The application process has been simplified, with projects under $200,000 being eligible for a streamlined application process.

Dates and times for the workshops will be announced soon. Interested members can learn more and register for these workshops by e-mailing tony.frank@co-ops.org or calling 303-283-3532.
