RMFU announces 2006 scholarship recipients

DENVER—Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU) is announcing 12 Colorado recipients of RMFU post-secondary education scholarships for the 2006-07 academic year. The total value of the scholarships is $10,000. Two additional scholarships, in the amount of $1,000 each, have been awarded by Farmers Union Insurance agencies in Grand Junction, Colo. and Sterling, Colo.

“These young leaders comprise a group of bright students who represent our future,” said RMFU education director Jennifer Luitjens Bahr. “They are all highly deserving. RMFU is very proud to present them with these scholarships.”

Colorado recipients of the 2006-07 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each are:

• Stratton, Lynsey Simon, daughter of Dave and Colleen Simon, receives the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Scholarship, funded by RMFU.

• Bent, Chad Heckman, son of Burt and Laura Heckman, receives the Farmers Union Service Association (FUSA) Scholarship, funded by FUSA.

• Sterling, Jami Knaub, daughter of Judy Knaub, receives the Farmers Union Service Association Scholarship, funded by FUSA.

• Peetz, Justin Fehringer, son of Randy and Marijayne Fehringer, receives the James G. Patton Memorial Scholarship, funded by RMFU.

• Peetz, Bryce Schumacher, son of Gary and Kristy Schumacher, receives the James G. Patton Memorial Scholarship, funded by RMFU.

• Sterling, Kaja Ariana Lindstrom, daughter of Charles and Nancy Lindstrom, receives the Perry & Donna Jackson Farmers Union Scholarship, endowed by the Perry and Donna Jackson Family and the Farmers Union Insurance Agency in Sterling.

• Wiggins, Brie Groves, daughter of Rebecca Groves, receives the Hazel Hemphill Memorial Scholarship, with $500 endowed by Morgan County Farmers Union and $500 contributed by RMFU.

• Ft. Collins, Silvia Otabachian, daughter of Donna and Eli Otabachian, receives the Maurice Parker Memorial Scholarship, with $500 endowed by Morgan County Farmers Union and $500 contributed by RMFU.

• Platteville, Ashley Peppler, daughter of Kent and Colleen Peppler, receives the Joey Skurich Memorial Scholarship, with $500 endowed by the Skurich Family and $500 contributed by RMFU.

• Boulder, Nick Elliot, Boulder, son of David and Teresa Elliot, receives the Katheryn Pappenheim Memorial Scholarship, with $500 endowed by Paul and Judy Pappenheim and $500 contributed by RMFU.

• Grand Junction, Tiffany Rison, daughter of Timothy Rison and Lorie Kibel, receives the Dale H. Smith Memorial Scholarship, endowed by the Dale H. Smith Family and the Farmers Union Insurance Agency in Grand Junction.

• Peetz, Darla Vallier, son of Don and Diane Vallier, receives the Edna Buchanan Memorial Scholarship, funded by RMFU.
