Denver, CO – August 4, 2025 – The Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tyler Garrett as its new Chief Executive Officer. Garrett will assume the position of Associate CEO on October 1, 2025, working alongside current CEO Ben Rainbolt, who is retiring, to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Garrett will officially step into the role of CEO on January 1, 2026.
Tyler Garrett brings extensive experience and a deep commitment to RMFU’s mission, currently serving as the organization’s Director of Government Relations. Since joining RMFU in 2022, Garrett has played a pivotal role in landmark policy successes, including Colorado’s first-in-the-nation Right to Repair law and significant initiatives supporting agricultural and rural behavioral health care.
RMFU President Chad Franke remarked, “Tyler’s proven leadership, passion for advocacy, and dedication to rural communities make him an ideal choice to lead RMFU into its next chapter. He understands the needs of family farmers and ranchers, and he has demonstrated exceptional ability to build coalitions and drive impactful policy outcomes.”
Garrett’s tenure at RMFU is highlighted by his effective management of legislative initiatives at both state and federal levels, strategic oversight of the organization’s Political Action Committee (PAC), and active engagement in community outreach and education. His background includes significant experience in policy development, legislative advocacy, organizational leadership, and stakeholder collaboration.
“I am deeply honored to take on this role and excited to build upon RMFU’s strong legacy,” Garrett said. “My focus will be on amplifying our advocacy efforts, strengthening cooperative initiatives, expanding our membership, and ensuring family farmers and ranchers remain at the heart of our work. Together, we will keep rural communities thriving across Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming.”
Garrett holds a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado Boulder, a Master of Public Administration and Nonprofit Studies from the University of Arkansas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, also from the University of Arkansas.
The RMFU Board of Directors is confident that Garrett’s collaborative and forward-thinking approach will drive continued success for the organization and its members.
