Spotlight on Novel Grain Agriculture in Wyoming with the Wyoming Local Foods Coalition

This month, the Wyoming Local Foods Coalition hosted an engaging speaker series featuring Sarah Wood, along with Hana Fancher and Tessa Peters, who are both members of the Wyoming High Plains Chapter of Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU). The session highlighted the innovative work in heritage and perennial grains in Wyoming, with a special focus on the initiatives led by Wyoming Heritage Grains.

Located near Powell, WY, Wyoming Heritage Grains excels in growing, milling, and marketing unique heritage grains under Sarah Wood’s leadership. Additionally, Hana and Tessa offered valuable insights into the potential for expanding Kernza® perennial grain acreage in Wyoming. Their discussion covered the essential agronomics of Kernza cultivation and the challenges and opportunities in marketing this perennial grain.
