Program Director of Education
I. GENERAL INFORMATION
DIVISION: Rocky Mountain Farmers Union Foundation (RMFUF)
REPORTS TO: RMFU Foundation Director

II. PURPOSE OF POSITION
To coordinate and develop youth and adult education programs that work to build leadership and cooperative skills in both RMFU members and non-members. Maintain and enhance communications between RMFU office and county officers and its members, encourage and solicit officer and member involvement in educational activities and programs and coordinate special programs within the organization.
III. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct and supervise all educational office and field activities.
- Negotiate and submit executive contracts to the CEO for the administration of day-to-day activities of the organization, as are necessary or appropriate.
- Manages and monitors budget and financial activities of the Foundation with assistance of the RMFUF Director, CEO and CFO.
- Develop and implement strategic plan of the organization with the RMFUF Director, CEO, staff and board of directors.
- Facilitate office and field staff in achieving education program and organizational goals.
- Submit written report on educational activities to be included in board of directors packet, and attend board meetings when necessary.
- Keep RMFUF Director informed of all activities.
- Implements orders and resolutions adopted by the board of directors.
- Additional authority, power, and duties as assigned by the RMFUF Director.
IV. OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILTIES
- Serve as a member of the team, participate in staff meetings, training programs and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
- Work with National Farmers Union by coordinating state efforts for various programs, such as All-States Camp, College Conference on Cooperatives, Beginning Farmers Institute, and attend NFU Educators’ conference and the ACE conference.
- Represent education programs and the organization by tabling, attending meetings and/or by making presentations as requested.
- Complete various duties associated with the organization’s annual convention.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the RMFUF Director.
V. SUPERVISORY DUTIES
- Hire and oversee summer and day class staff.
- Hire and oversee contractors to conduct specific educational program areas and special campaigns on behalf of RMFU and RMFU Foundation.
VI. POSITION QUALIFICIATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Initiator of ideas and programs.
- Ability to work independently with individuals and groups, as well as serving as part of an organizational team.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet a multitude of deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Previous experience in supervision of personnel beneficial.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Basic understanding of budgeting.
- Willingness to pitch in where needed even if duties are beyond the “normal” education program tasks.
Education:
- At least two years of higher education or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
- Prior experience in education and/or program development; camp involvement preferred.
- Prior experience in membership organizations and leadership training programs would be of great benefit.
VII. COMPENSATION
The position is full-time with compensation of $60,000-$70,000 commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package is available which includes health, dental, vision and 401(k).
VIII. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
- Frequent travel required, including overnight travel and some air travel.
- Employee must have a valid driver’s license and their own vehicle.
- Requires long hours/extended weeks during the summer camp season, high energy level is necessary.
- Requires the extensive use of arms, hands and fingers.
- Frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, reach with arms and hands, talk, see and hear.
- May be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
