Wyoming lawmaker earns Farmers Union legislative achievement award

(Cheyenne) Sen. Rich Cathcart was honored at the 91st annual Rocky Mountain Farmers Union convention here yesterday for his work on behalf of Wyoming farmers and ranchers. First elected to the Wyoming Senate in 1992, Cathcart has served Senate District 6 for two terms. His dedication to farmers and ranchers in Wyoming has helped pass several important bills, including legislation regulating industrial hog operations. In his first campaign, he heard the need to improve rural telephone service. Through his efforts rural communities in Eastern Laramie County now have area-wide calling. His leadership in telecommunication legislation has helped all of rural Wyoming. Cathcart also served on the select committee on State Trust Lands. He continues to represent agriculture in this area. “It’s always wonderful to see Wyoming citizens at the capitol letting me know how things should be done,” said Cathcart who also said he was extremely honored to receive the award.
